Paper, written by Carleton as a Yale divinity student, relating to the conflict and schism in First Congregational Church, Guilford, 1839-1845, over the subject of abolition, during which time the Rev. Aaron Dutton was dismissed in 1842 from the church and in 1843 abolitionists were dismissed to form Third Congregational Church.
